Jeremiah Unterman

Jeremiah Unterman was Adjunct Professor of Bible at Yeshiva University and Director of the Association of Modern Orthodox Day Schools in North America before becoming a Resident Scholar at the Herzl Institute.  Dr. Unterman is the author of a book on Biblical prophecy, From Repentance to Redemption, as well as numerous scholarly articles, and has taught at Dartmouth College, Northwestern University, University of California – Irvine, and other universities. He received a B.A. in Hebraic Studies from Rutgers University, an M.A. in Bible from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and a Ph.D. in the Judaica Program of the Near Eastern Studies Department at U.C., Berkeley.

Dr. Unterman’s new book, Justice for All: How the Jewish Bible Revolutionized Ethics has recently been accepted for publication (Jewish Philosophical Society), and is expected for release in 2017.

Joshua Berman

Joshua Berman is on the Bible faculty at Bar-Ilan University and a Resident Scholar at the Herzl Institute. His books include Created Equal: How the Bible Broke With Ancient Political Thought and The Temple: Its Symbolism and Meaning. His articles on contemporary issues have appeared in Tradition, Judaism and Mosaic, among other publications. Berman is an ordained Orthodox rabbi. He received a B.A. in Religion from Princeton University and a Ph.D. in Bible from Bar-Ilan University.

Yechiel Leiter

Yechiel Leiter is a member of the Law Faculty at the Kiryat Ono Academic Center. He has authored three books and numerous articles on Zionism and Israel, and lectures extensively to diverse audiences on political theory, Jewish philosophy, Zionism, and current affairs. He holds an undergraduate degree in Law, a BA in Political Science, an MA in International Relations, and a PhD in political philosophy from the University of Haifa. His doctoral dissertation addressed the influence of the Hebrew Bible on John Locke’s theory of consent. Leiter served in the past in a number of senior government positions, including as Deputy Director General of Israel’s Ministry of Education and as Chief of Staff to Benjamin Netanyahu in the Ministry of Finance.
